Lecture by Professor Andrew Roberts

Professor Roberts will address the Durham Union Society in the form of an afternoon lecture followed by a question and answer session allowing for more wide-ranging discussion. The lecture will focus on Professor Roberts’ recent book Churchill: Walking With Destiny, signed copies of which will be available for purchase at the event. Professor Roberts will also discuss his wider academic career and some of his other works. A British historian and journalist, Andrew is a Visiting Professor at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London. Published in The Daily Telegraph and The Spectator, Andrew has achieved particular fame for his books on the Second World War, Churchill and Napoleon. His book Napoleon the Great won the 2015 Los Angeles Times Book Prize while The Storm of War: A New History of the Second World War received the British Army Military Book of the Year Award for 2010. Professor Roberts’ recent biography of Churchill was hailed as 'the best single-volume life of Churchill ever written’ by the Sunday Times. He was educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.
