SAHR Templer Long List released

The judging panel for the SAHR Templer Medal, and the associated Chapple Prize for best first book, have completed their initial deliberations and released a joint long list of titles eligible for the 2023 awards. The panel selected the folowing eighteen volumes (presented alphabetically) on the basis of the established criteria, including whether the book made a significant contribution to knowledge; whether it was accurate and thoroughly researched with full bibliography and referencing; whether the argument was clear and supported; and whether it was well written and comprehensible to a well-informed reader of military history.
A shortlist of titles for the respective prizes will be released later in the year. The winners will be announced at the SAHR's Annual General Meeting in April.
