Carole Divall on Sir Ralph Abercromby

For the May instalment of SAHR's series of monthly talks, Council member Carole Divall gave a talk entitled 'The Do-Something General: How Sir Ralph Abercromby Gave the British Army the Taste of Victory 1793-1801'. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 30th 2023 at 7:00PM BST.

Speaker biography

Carole Divall MA FINS has a particular interest in the British Army of the late 18th and early 19th centuries: its organization, its campaigns (culminating at Waterloo), and, most importantly, the human perspective. As a member of the Waterloo 200 education committee, Carole curated the Waterloo 200 website. Carole has published seven books - the most recent, a study of the Vitoria campaign, appearing in November 2021 - and is currently working on an examination of the 5th Division in the Peninsula.
