Dr Andrew Bamford PhD MA
Andrew Bamford obtained a degree in History from the University of York before moving to the University of Leeds as a postgraduate to specialise in Military History. He obtained his doctorate in 2009 and this research, on the functioning of the British Army’s regimental system during the Napoleonic Wars, was later published by the University of Oklahoma Press under the title Sickness, Suffering, and the Sword. He has since then written or edited a further five volumes on this era, variously published by Frontline Books and by Helion & Co., and now works for Helion as Series and Commissioning Editor for the book series “From Reason to Revolution 1721-1815”.
Andrew is a regular contributor to the Society’s Journal, and has served on its Council since 2015.
