Dr Adam Storring MA (Cantab), MPhil, PhD

My PhD, supervised by Professor Sir Christopher Clark, was entitled 'Frederick the Great and the Meanings of War, 1730-1755'. It examined the military ideas of King Frederick II of Prussia as a young man, showing how war interacted with concepts of political order and noble glory as well as examining the specific intellectual inspirations for Frederick's tactical and strategic ideas and showing how ideas were developed within the Prussian high command on campaign.

I received my PhD in July 2018. I am now expanding it into a broader book on Frederick the Great's military ideas throughout his life.

I did my BA (2004) and MPhil (2007) also at St. John's College, Cambridge.

I previously worked in the Civil Service, including at the Department of Health 2007-2010 (mostly in the Office for Strategic Coordination of Health Research [OSCHR]) and the Department for Education (DfE) 2011-2013.

I also spent seven months working as a volunteer for LEPRA India, a health charity based in Hyderabad (now in Telangana) and operating in seven Indian states, helping people affected by leprosy and other diseases of poverty.
